Academic study and research

Aletta encourages and advances academic research about women and gender and opens its archives and collections up to academic researchers. We pay special attention to the areas of sexuality, ethnicity and history.

A center for study

Aletta wants to promote and be a resource for academic study and research in the disciplines of women’s and gender studies. There are currently four professors affiliated with Aletta and a number of other academic researchers who are affiliated with our institute.

Research supported by Aletta

Aletta’s archives and collections are ideally suited for use by scholars who are studying women’s history or the women’s movement, or who are conducting other research from a gender perspective. Johanna Naber Award

Aletta and the Dutch Association for Women’s History have created the Johanna Naber Award, a prize which is given out for a thesis in women’s history.
