Women’s rights and empowerment through information

As far as Aletta is concerned, access to information is absolutely essential for women to be empowered and to secure their rights. In many places in the world, it is difficult for women to find or access the information they need. That is why Aletta developed the Mapping the World database.

What are women’s information centers?

  • Libraries, archives and other institutions where information at the local, national or international level is gathered for and about women
  • Women’s documentation and research centers that are affiliated with universities
  • Women’s information resource centers affiliated with government organizations

The Mapping the World database

Mapping the World is available in both English and Spanish and is fully searchable online. The database is also available on a CD-ROM for women living or working in areas with little or no Internet access.
