Virtual discussion
The film weaves together the personal stories of extraordinary women from Uganda, Costa Rica and Macedonia. They all use the Internet, CDs, radio and e-mail in their own ways to fight to achieve women’s rights and empowerment. The film also features a ‘virtual discussion’ about the benefits and disadvantages of modern media and communication methods for women’s development worldwide.Extraordinary women
In Uganda, 79-year-old Anastasia Namisongo carries her laptop on her shoulder and travels from village to village by motor scooter to teach women to use the CD ‘How to make money’.
Enisa Eminova, based in Skopje, Macedonia, is using e-mail to set up an extensive network of Roma women in Central and Eastern Europe. Together, they are challenging traditional sexual taboos in the Roma community.
